Australian Shepherds originate from the Midwest and Southwest of the USA. This is where the breed developed as a typical farm and ranch dog. They were required to perform all tasks related to various types of livestock. This included herding large herds across vast distances, whether cattle or sheep, as well as loading individual animals and working in tight pens and feedlots.

Preserving this versatility in Working Aussies is the goal of dedicated breeders in the USA and, for some years now, in Europe as well. With the right lineage and training, the Australian Shepherd is suitable for use in small farms, sheep farming , as well as in cattle operations.

My dogs mainly work my flock of Brabados black belly sheep and the ducks and geese I breed and keep on my farm. I do train them to work cattle as well. Because I think there are some good specialized herding breeds around, but the Working Aussie should be and stay a useful versatile stockdog.

The actual pack consists of Tio , his daughter Raw and the brothers Ty, Tom and Ash

My first Aussie Marla, which hooked me to this breed over 20 years ago, is long gone . My foundation female Sombra , her daughter Cas and her granddaughter Del sadly followed her over the last years.

Raw is the fifth generation of my breeding in direct lineage and will have puppies of the sixth generation in spring 2024.
